SLO: Oprah's Happiest City

photo - Mission San Luis Obispo

Since I went to college and got married here, I can confirm Oprah got this exactly right. San Luis Obispo, California is the happiest city in America. This picturesque town is nestled between the Pacific Ocean and wine country. If you live in California, it is the perfect weekend getaway since it is easily accessible from Northern or Southern California. Here are a few of my SLO favorites.

  1. Oh, you are SO right about SLO being a perfect little getaway town. When we lived in CA, my girlfriends and I would sometimes do road trips to visit some of our friends who attended Cal Poly.

That is one thing I miss about CA; being able to hop in your car, drive a few hours and be somewhere totally different; the beach, the snow, wine country, wherever. SOB!

  3. Now on my holiday list. As i live in Europe I can't just pop over; it will have to be part of a bigger holiday. Love the farmers markets (which we had them here in Spain).

  13. I live only half an hour away but still have never seen Bubble Gum Alley. Seems by the time we do our errands there's not much time left to play tourist -- especially when parking is so scarce. We did finally make it to Laguna Lake.
