TV Land: Sitcoms

Before flat screens and HD, lived the world of antennas and dials. There was no cussing and thirty minute shows really made you laugh. I remember rushing through my homework so that I could catch the evening line-up on Fox. Every night without fail, my favorite shows played from 5 until 8pm. I prayed for good reception and had to adjust the antenna at least 2 times a week to avoid static. Between the catchy theme songs and life lessons, sitcoms of the 1980s were some of the best of all time. Here are my favorites.

And thanks for your sweet comment, did you like the vintage shop? I can't believe how much of a selection she has, kind of hard not to find something I like (or a million things based on my pictures). so blog success, haha...maybe - i'm sure when i start working (if i ever find a job here!) that will change ;) have a good day my friend!!

  13. Ah, the good ol' days! I loved every one of those, except Family Ties for some reason. I also LOVED Punky Brewster and wanted to be her! I have an autographed picture of Ricky Shroeder in his prime and I was convinced I'd marry him someday. I'm sure it's only because we never met that that dream didn't become a reality (: Thanks for the trip down memory lane!

  14. Oh my gosh, I love this post Marcie! Ever since the reality tv phase, I feel like sitcoms have become extinct. Three's Company and Small Wonder were definitely two of my favorites. I still watch Three's Company and laugh out loud through the entire episode.

  23. I forgot all about Mr. Belvedere! And we never had Small Wonder where I grew up...then again we did only have 3 channels (until this year when my parents finally took the big leap to satellite tv). Three's Company, Facts of Life and Growing Pains were my faves!! And NELL! That was a classic!

  24. I loved Facts of Life, Three's Company, and Family Ties! Also, Happy Days and Laverne and Shirley! Can't forget them! It's sad that the sitcom is a dying breed in this land of pseudo reality.

    Great post Marcie!
