October Classic: Tim Burton

Edward Scissorhands

October is undoubtedly my favorite month in California. It is tradition packed for Jimmy and me, so the entire month is full of anticipation and fun outings. One very important ritual that starts in early October is watching Tim Burton's whimsical movies in anticipation of Halloween. His eerie style has enchanted me since I saw my first movie, Edward Scissorhands, in the early 90s. I also love that Johnny Depp plays most of his characters. Together, these two men create perfect October classics. Here are my favorites.

Sweeney Todd

The Nightmare Before Christmas

Beetlejuice

The Corpse Bride

Sleepy Hollow

  1. I am ashamed to admit that I have only seen one of the above (plus Edward Scissorhands, probably more than a decade ago). I better get on that, pronto, now that it's almost Halloween!

  2. I'm going to echo Claire here and say that other than Edward Scissorhands, I've only seen one other Tim Burton movie: Beetlejuice. Both are awesome. What a great tradition, Marcie.

  7. Ok I'm feeling a bit ignorant because I didn't know that Tim Burton also did Edward Scissorhands... Beetlejuice brings back memories! I used to love that song, which I can't quite remember now off the top of my head, but it was sung in a dining room or something? Sorry but it's been decades since I last saw it!
