Food Friday: Popcorn Balls

A longtime Halloween tradition in my family are Auntie's popcorn balls. Every October, Auntie makes dozens of these sugary sweet balls of gooeyness and ships them to family all over the country. Getting into the candied spirit of October, I used green food coloring to make my version of "slime balls" (recipe here) in about 30 minutes and ate two immediately. These are the perfect Halloween dessert . . . but beware. You can't eat just one, and you will never view popcorn the same again. Eat at your own risk.

  17. Oh Marcie you have taken me home today! My mom makes a popcorn cake that is really good, but we were always begging for the popcorn balls (ungrateful why i oughta..hehe). I've never seen the green slime version you've done - that is brilliant!!! I have to get this to my sis-in-law for the niece ASAP (and mix up a batch for us here, too).

    Have a happy weekend!

  27. Man, those look good. I've never seen green popcorn balls before. In my opinion, you need a good popcorn popper to make them the best. Snappy Popcorn makes some really good ones.
