Vintage Treasures

There are times when I feel like I am an old soul. I am enchanted by antique stores and always get lost in them for hours. I love the smell of old books, the sound of scratchy records, the look of yellowed photographs, and listening to Lawrence Welk's "champagne music." There is just something charming about the past that I find irresistible. Take me back to the days of rotary phones, drive-in movies, men opening doors, and crystal door knobs.

Here are a few antique treasures in my collection.

  4. Oh, Marcie I feel the same way! I found a cute record player a few weeks ago, I was so excited! I remember getting single records for Christmas! Oh, it is funny how things can trigger memories! I love the brass bug, I think my mom and dad still have a pewter one similar to yours!

  8. Oooh me too, I have always felt like this - maybe because of growing up in a very stereotypical English family surrounded by history.

Love your treasures particularly that Chinese lock - how incredible I don't think I've seen anything like it before!

  16. I really like the Chinese dragon lock and I'm trying to figure out how it works! I know what you mean about loving old things... It's cool to think, "X many years ago, someone opened a door with this!" Old things tend to transport us into the past. I don't really like Lawrence Welk, though. Haha!

  22. Love the jewelry box Marcie! I adore old things too, and get lost in vintage anything! I remember one of Nate Berkus' questions for figuring out decorating style is, do you like things from the past or do you like the future? I'm definitely a "past" person. Sounds like you are too. :)
