Game Night

Friday nights are tricky. On one hand, I am exhausted from the workweek, but on the other I really need to get out and decompress. Back in my "younger" days, I would head out with friends, only to be greeted by a headache and blistered feet the next morning. I am happy to say those days are behind me. Now, I am all about game night. With friends, the boys duke it out against the girls which leads to loud voices, a girls victory, and the boys crying cheaters. With family, we keep it traditional and play cards, Scrabble or dominoes. When it is just the two of us, we play Monopoly for hours, and I always lose. (Yes, I admit defeat.) No matter who or what we play, game night always leads to early and energized Saturday mornings.

  3. I love game nights! I'm a bit the same too: my tolerance for big nights out has dwindled over the past few years...

I especially love Scrabble, but have vowed and declared to never, ever play Monopoly ever again. It brings out the worst in me.

  4. ooooweeee, I love your blog! :D
I also love game nights. I like the craziness of games that resemble Win Lose or Draw (unless there's a bonified artist in the house!), Scrabble, chess (when I'm feeling extra clever) and also have shot dice in the foyer from time to time. Sometimes I get SO frustrated when i just can't get there and win. Perfect example: the card game Phase 10 - let's just say I won't be playing that one again in public.

  5. Early and energized Saturday mornings, eh? I wonder why that is. Scrabble IS kind of a brain drainer and tirerer! I like playing it, though. I usually lose, but that's because I don't nab word scores too well. I choose good words, though!

I'm glad you bond with your family. Lots of parents could learn from your example! I'll retract this statement if I find out you folks get too competitive! Ha ha.

  9. I LOVE playing games, especially Scrabble and Dominoes. I have spent hours and hours, starting with Candy Land, and thankfully, moving on to more grown-up games, with my boys. Two of them have "graduated" from games with Mom, preferring friends- (who can say why, Ha Ha) I have one who still wants to play. Our favorite game is Parcheesi. I have a feeling though, that the end is drawing near. Hopefully, they will want to play again someday...

  14. I miss board games! We hardly play anymore and when we happened to pull out monopoly a few years ago, we had SO much fun but somehow we never get round to doing it regularly...

  15. We have game nights too! I LOVE board games and it's so fun to have people over and play with food and wine. My favorites are Taboo, Scattergories, and Balderdash but I basically love them all. Did I mention there's usually wine involved?
