My Favorite Place

Every time Jimmy and I head downtown, I always have to go into this bookstore. I just love everything about it. I dream of one day owing a quaint little bookstore exactly like this one. I love the smell of the old used books, the colorful shelves, and the warmth that overcomes me as soon as I arrive. I prefer used books because they are broken in and give me a sense of authenticity and charm. I especially love children's books. My latest purchase was The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein. I read this book by the hours as a kid and was so excited when I found a good deal on a used one at this store.

Do you have a favorite place?

  1. When I still lived in Fairfield, California, I used to go down to the library all the time. At the back of the library there was this beautiful view of a small pond. It was refreshing just to sit there and read books

  4. I like any store that allows doggies. :) I have a favorite used bookstore in Berkeley called Half Priced Books--it's so great and cheap and there are always a million things I want to buy!

The Giving Tree is wonderful, but it makes me so sad!

  5. I have to stop myself from going into book shops these days because too many times I've gone in for one book and walked out with three.

My mother and I have talked about opening a book store so many times, but I'm scared of the direction the industry is going with the introduction of e-books. I can't imagine a life without paperbacks!

  12. I love bookstores too and I can totally picture you owning one! And the Giving Tree was definitely one of my favorite books growing up. I still love it and the amazing lesson it teaches. It's so hard to say what my favorite place is. The library is at the top of my list along with my parent's house, the beach, and any nice hotel room. :)

  14. This is so awesome. I wish we had a place like this in the neighborhood. I could totally see you being like Meg Ryan in You've Got Mail...her bookstore was just a gem!!

There's something about the smell of books. It's like an instant safe place. One of my favorite places would have to be the library or bookstore for sure.

  20. bookstores are the best. there was a super cute one on the block in chicago on dearborn...love mom & pop run businesses.

You could have the quaintest bookstore full of knooks and quiet spots to curl up and dive into a book, I'm jealous! :)

One of my all time favorite places is movie theaters, love getting lost in a movie and the smell of popcorn (although i rarely get it...) and I love locally owned coffee shops, or a sbux that feels homey!

  26. There is this bookstore/cafe in Boston called Trident I like to go to. I sit at the bar with my computer or book or magazine all by myself...love it! Sometimes I go there and do my work as well. I feel like I can concentrate and think so much better than if I were at home at my desk.
