Work It Out

Work It Out

Since college, I've tried to maintain a regular workout schedule. Some months are better than others, but overall I get to the gym at least 3 times a week. There is no describing the feeling immediately after a great workout. I am able to sleep and concentrate better, and it reduces my stress level. Above are a few of my workout staples. I love the inexpensive items offered by Target and Old Navy and find they work just as good as the more expensive brands. I've been a loyal Mizuno follower for about 10 years and recommend these shoes to anyone. One brand I haven't yet purchased is Lululemon. I hear it is amazing, but I have yet to splurge on the expensive price tag. When I do, I want a jacket like the one pictured above.

My read at the gym usually includes UsWeekly, and I love listening to Britney.

What do you do for exercise?

  1. Have to have some reading material and my iPod if I'm at the gym :)

  2. Britney is the GREATEST workout music! I work out regularly at school but have been slacking terribly since getting home. Love the Lululemon jacket!

  8. I have to get back on my exercise game. I have been very bad for a few weeks now, but usually I do a combination of jogging and pilates.
Sometimes I just pop in one of my Jillian Michaels DVDs. For really great and inexpensive workout gear my go to spot is Marshalls.

  10. I try to work out regularly but am really horrible at sticking to. The thing is that nothing feels better than a good workout and once I get into it I want to go all the time. Just started back again recently with the summer coming around and I'm loving it :)

  11. I completely agree, nothing beats the feeling after a great workout. I like to read US Weekly at the gym too! I'm completely addicted to Lululemon. I'm working on a post about it for next week. It's definitely a splurge, but they wash up well and look great for a really long time. I actually have that jacket!

I mostly do yoga, but sometimes run and I take a class called Core Motion with a weighted ball and lots of squats, jumps, lunges, etc. But yoga is definitely my favorite way to work out.

  14. I definitely need to amp up my work out schedule, I usually do 2 weeks on and then 2 weeks shoveling food into my face. LOL. Having a new workout outfit it quite inspiring though!

  15. Keeping in step with my work out routine has its ups & downs as you mentioned! But typically, Mon/Wed mornings I'm at the 515am Group Power weights class at a local gym, & Tues/Thrs evenings running with my girlfriends. Saturdays are long runs... But the workout outfits are reminder that I need to go shop! :)

  17. Whoa, that cover didn't even look like Katie Holmes! That really threw me for a loop!

I like to do yoga and walk for exercise. I need to do more strength training, though.

  19. I really love the items at Old Navy too. I jumped off my wallet for one pair of Lululemon pants 2 year ago and I still wear them. Only one pair of the shorts too for when I get the speedwalk on in summer (pathetic really).

I don't go to the gym b/c, well, I don't have anyone to go with and I'm kind of intimidated by the machines, but I do Pilates almost daily and it is amazing. Totally tones and really strengthens your core.

  20. I just graduated and I'm trying to get myself into a regular workout routine before I start my job, but it's like the lasttt thing I want to do right now! So far, I've been playing Wii Fit lol. But, I've been wanting to try lululemon too, but it's definitely a little bit of a splurge.

    Cute blog! :)

  22. lululemon is outrageously priced, no doubt about it, but i have a few pieces of theirs (particularly their 'groove pants') that i cannot do without anymore! it's the greatest workout gear. minuuuuus the $98 price tag of course.

  23. I love your workout picks girly! That's great you have a regular regimen you can stick to. Lately i workout 1 to 2x a week which isn't as much as I'd like, but I definitely feel good and see subtle results. It's so rewarding! I love that you listen to Brit, she is fab!

  24. Thanks so much for your comment Marcie. It's seems kinda crazy to be talking bangles after just talking loss. My friend was full of life though and one major thing she stressed was 'keep on living'. Doesn't make you (us, a person) think about her any less though. It literally just sits in the air around us. You forget for a little while and then all the sudden it hits you again. ugh

  25. I swear by my lululemon. Makes me feel that I am way more fit than I am and no camel toe here ;)

  26. I am with you on the regular workout schedule! I agree that there's nothing better than some good hard cardio after a stressful day. I always seem to be happier and feeling so much better after a trip to the gym. Pilates is great too!

I own those mizunos and absolutely love them. To be honest, the neon pink originally was what made my decision easy, but I couldn't be more pleased as far as comfort and their lightness!
