Forever Friends

The older I get, the more I realize that (1) I don't have a huge circle of friends like I did in high school or college, and (2) the friends I do have will be around forever. One friend in particular comes to my mind as I sit down to write this post, and I like to think of her as my forever friend. We met in college, and our friendship has since developed into something I never could have imagined. She has become very close to my family, and she is my only friend that has come out to my family's farm. (She drove her first tractor that weekend . . . hilarious.) Last week she brought cupcakes and food to the hospital when my cousin had her baby. I remember sitting back and soaking in the scene in the hospital room. It was a tight space packed with my family, our tiny new addition, and my friend. I remember feeling a warmth come over me. I was so blessed to have all the people that I love in one space.

My friend is ALWAYS there when I need a laugh, a cry, to vent, or just need to be me. She is the definition of a friend, and the kind of friend I imagined having when I was a little girl. Julia, thank you for everything you do and for who you are.

  14. How sweet! You literally brought tears to my eyes. I've had two best friends my entire life. One passed away a year ago from breast cancer and I just found out about a month ago that my other bff has brain cancer and his tumor is inoperable. It's hard to imagine what life will be like without both of them. It's wonderful that you cherish the things you have in life.

Hope you had a wonderful weekend! XOXO

  17. What a lovely post! You are very lucky to have such a special, amazing friend like that. Not too many people do. I have a best friend who this post reminds me of but she is currently living across the country (working on her masters) and I miss her terribly. Sigh.

I also love the photos you put with this post. So sweet. :)

  18. You have a beautiful blog and I am so glad that I found you this morning!
I too have several forever friends. Two from my teen years and several that God brought to me in my late 30's!
Friends like that do become a part of the family and they love and give not only to me but also to my family. They are BLESSINGS!!!

    I will be back!

  20. This is so sweet and what a beautiful picture! I feel the same way. As I get older and my time with friends is more limited, I realize I only want to spend it with quality friends. I don't have many of them, but the ones I do are practically like family. We're lucky we have friends like this!
