The older I get, the more I realize that (1) I don't have a huge circle of friends like I did in high school or college, and (2) the friends I do have will be around forever. One friend in particular comes to my mind as I sit down to write this post, and I like to think of her as my forever friend. We met in college, and our friendship has since developed into something I never could have imagined. She has become very close to my family, and she is my only friend that has come out to my family's farm. (She drove her first tractor that weekend . . . hilarious.) Last week she brought cupcakes and food to the hospital when my cousin had her baby. I remember sitting back and soaking in the scene in the hospital room. It was a tight space packed with my family, our tiny new addition, and my friend. I remember feeling a warmth come over me. I was so blessed to have all the people that I love in one space.
My friend is ALWAYS there when I need a laugh, a cry, to vent, or just need to be me. She is the definition of a friend, and the kind of friend I imagined having when I was a little girl. Julia, thank you for everything you do and for who you are.
